CASE 


A 77-year-old female presented to the emergency department with an acute left elbow deformity following a fall on an outstretched hand. On physical examination, the patient was alert and oriented but was guarding her left elbow in obvious discomfort. Axillary, musculocutaneous, median, ulnar, and radial nerves of the left upper extremity were intact. She had limited range of motion at the elbow caused by guarding and obvious deformity. Radiographs were obtained (Figure 1). What do the images reveal?
